Many of us live in southwest Colorado near Osprey’s headquarters in Cortez. Nestled at the corner of the rugged San Juan Mountains and on the edge of vast sandstone canyon country, this landscape provides us with constant inspiration and a superb testing ground for our packs.
You’ll find the rest of us, including Osprey founder and head designer Mike Pfotenhauer, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam . Here, surrounded by heat, endless bustle and vibrant energy, we design and build our packs to the exacting standards expected of Osprey. Living in HCM City provides many benefits, including the ability to ensure fair labor standards and face-to-face relationships with the factories that build our packs, cultural enlightenment, and the design inspiration of a cosmopolitan city.

Products
Our whole design development process centres on optimizing the end user’s performance. The uppers are extremely functional with mesh in the forepart and tongues for maximum breathability. This creates a foot climate that helps you run at your best. When you run through water and the shoe gets soaked, it creates a pumping action that expels the water from the shoe allowing it to dry quickly. The lace webbing is positioned allowing a secure foothold without altering the natural alignment of the metatarsals. The back of our shoes are cleanly cut which allows your achilles tendon to experience high levels of comfort and minimum restriction - particularly when running down hill.
Team
The team is made up of experts with proven track records in the footwear fields of Sports, Mountaineering, Marine, Outdoor and Industrial design and development. This linked with a strong bio-mechanics input, coupled with a test team of elite athletes in the Mountain Sports environment gives inov-8 the creative culture for next generation products.

Founding Mountain Hardwear was the team’s first demonstration of radical thinking; the company bet on experience and passion for innovative, technologically advanced products to bring together a product line within 90 days. Many in the industry thought the task was impossible, but the Mountain Hardwear crew worked fast and smart—and introduced two products that are still in the line today: the Exposure™ Parka and the Sub Zero™ Jacket.
More than a decade later, Mountain Hardwear has grown quite a bit. The company has over 90 people in our California office, more than 35 sales reps and associates across the United States and Europe, and representatives in Canada, Asia, South America, Australia and New Zealand.
